Esther Baker (USA) and Iskra Shukarova (North Macedonia) will share site-responsive, collaborative process which centers the willow tree, as well as ritual as performance. In the research they use performance to time travel and ritual to connect with ancestors and land. Esther and Iskra in the rut process want to move towards resilience, radical tenderness, and rooted connection and learning from each other. We will research the Willow Tree together.
The performance presentation of the Willow Tree project which is an artistic co-creative collaboration between Esther Baker and Iskra Shukarova will be shown as part of the program of the MOT FESTIVAL in collaboration with SCS – CENTER JADRO / Skopje. After the performance there will be an open talk with the audience and the artists.
The co-creation between Esther and Iskra is a research in the field of movement as well as a poetic vision of their collaborative process inspired by nature and ritual intersecting folklore, legends and myths of the past, present and future.
