Co-produced by Eho Animato (Belgrade), LOOP (Athens), and Oyoun (Berlin), Echoes of the Deep premiered in Berlin in May 2025, merging technology and activism to reimagine theatre as a space for ecological and emotional connection within PROSPER project co – funded by the European Union.
Echoes of the Deep is an immersive VR performance that poetically explores the ecological vulnerability of Lake Ohrid — one of Europe’s oldest and most biodiverse lakes. Blending virtual reality and live performance, the work invites audiences to dive beneath the surface into a fragile underwater world and reflect on humanity’s relationship with nature. Developed through an international residency with eight artists, the performance combines digital imagery, sound, and embodied storytelling to provoke empathy and awareness. In its participatory finale, spectators send personal messages to the citizens of Ohrid, creating a symbolic bridge of cross-border solidarity.
